Two-time All-Northeast Conference (NEC) guard B.K. Ashe signed his National Letter of Intent to join the Longwood University men’s basketball team, fourth-year head coach Jayson Gee and his staff announced Tuesday.
Ashe, who was a three-year contributor at Mount St. Mary’s and earned All-NEC third team honors as a sophomore and junior, will sit out the 2016-17 season for the Lancers due to NCAA transfer rules. He retains one year of eligibility and will compete as a redshirt senior in 2017-18.
Ashe was one of the top scorers in the NEC in 2015-16, ranking seventh in the conference with a team-leading 13.8 points per game. Standing 6 feet 1 inches at 170 pounds, he was also Mount’s second-leading rebounder with 4.5 boards per game and added 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game. Ashe scored in double figures in 27 of 33 games as a junior.
