Appomattox Court House National Historical Park is seeking volunteers to assist in building a split rail fence along a 25-yard section of the history trail just beyond the North Carolina Monument.
This project will take place from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. on Friday.
The split rail fence will make the trail past the North Carolina Monument more visible to visitors and people wishing to recreate on the trail. Please contact Alyssa Holland, volunteer coordinator for Appomattox Court House NHP, by noon on Thursday if you are interested in this service project.
Volunteers will meet park staff at the North Carolina Monument parking lot located on Route 24 just west of the main park entrance.
Volunteers are encouraged to bring proper clothing and shoes for use on a trail. The walk to the project site will be short, but with the labor involved, please bring water, and snacks.
Please direct questions to Holland at alyssa_holland@nps.gov or (434) 352-8987 ext. 234.
