Al Lookofsky, an expert on the primitive arts, will take High Bridge State Park visitors on a mind journey through time as he demonstrates how stone knives and projectile points were manufactured. The event is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 25.
Visitors will get hands-on experience making cordage from plant fibers and will be challenged to produce a fire from the friction of natural materials. A range will be set up where participants can try their hand at launching spears with an ancient device “that can increase the range of this simple projectile to an amazing degree,” according to a press release.
The program is free, but a parking fee of $4 per vehicle will apply to visitors parking at trail accesses. Participants are encouraged to bring water as there is none available along the trail. For information, contact the park office at 434-315-0457.
