The Aimesbury family has returned to New Hampshire after visiting her mother, Peggy Kelsey. They, along with local family, attended the TAPS (Tragedy Assistance Program For Survivors) event in Arlington and Washington during the Memorial Day holiday. They were there in memory of Cpl. Andrew Aimesbury, an Army Ranger who was killed in Savannah, Ga. on Dec. 9

Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary by staying at the Fearrington Village Inn in North Carolina on May 26.

Brianna Smith and her friend Josh joined her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith for dinner at Texas de Brazil on Sunday evening to celebrate Brianna’s recent high school graduation from Randolph Henry High School.

On May 30, Mrs. Flora Bolt, Mrs. Susan Reynolds, Mrs. Frances Giles and Mrs. Deserae Bollin of Farmville Chapter 45 United Daughters of the Confederacy attended the Memorial Day service; they were part of the group that co-sponsors the annual Memorial Day service with the Sons of the Confederacy High Bridge Camp 1581 at the Confederate Cemetery. The speaker, Teresa Roane, archivist of the Virginia United Daughters of the Confederacy, gave a very interesting talk titled “Do Not Leave Your Ancestors at the Door.”

Mrs. Flora Bolt and granddaughter Jennifer Bolt had lunch at Ruby Tuesday on May 29.

Gene and Lois Southall recently took part in a parade in Blackstone. It was National Nursing Home Week; the parade started at Heritage Hall and went all the way down Main Street. A lot of residents were pushed in wheelchairs. Gene and Lois Southall drove their 1955 Ford Fairland. After the parade, Gene treated Lois to the dollar menu at McDonald’s in Blackstone.

Mrs. Frances Anderson and Mrs. Flora Bolt attended the Memorial Day Chicken Dinner at the Curdsville Community Center. There was a dessert auction after the dinner to raise funds for the community center. The auctioneer was the talented Bill Talbert.

Mrs. Flora Bolt and Mrs. Frances Ollie met for lunch on June 2 at Merk’s Place.

On Sunday, Mrs. Flora Bolt enjoyed lunch with Mrs. Judy Bolt and daughter Jennifer Bolt; later Flora visited Lucille and Martha Alice at The Woodlands.

The descendants of Lavaulette and Margaret DeJarnette Price Penick held their 45th family reunion on Saturday at the Gee-Price Building on the Fuqua School campus. Family members able to attend this year were: Richard and Margaret Stockton, of Tuggle, Lon and Mary Jo Stockton and son Sean, of Farmville, Rebecca Goin, of Hixburg, Gwen Paulson, Michelle Paulson, Tori Carter, all of Chester; Marsha Paulson and son Chase Carnell, of Richmond; Gene and Frances Motley, of Hampton; and Jennifer Paulson, Jason Christopher and daughter Lily, all of Nottingham, Md.

Friends and neighbors are praying for a speedy recovery for: Shirley Fulcher, Carolyn Dove, Jean P. Derrenbacker, Gail George, Elfrieda Kerns, Betty Jean Bolt and Mildred Harvey Shanks.
