Once the compressor station’s nose was under our tent, we knew the rest of the beast was sure to follow. Hang on to your hat. It’s probably going to need to be even larger; the big noise and roaring wind with its night venting of toxic gasses are sure to follow. That is the history of compressor stations.
They are not eco-friendly. They do not have staff present 24/7 in case things go horribly wrong. The licensing federal agency, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, is in the industry’s hip pocket and Dominion is the dominant political contributor in Virginia.
But we are not supposed to worry. After all, there are federal regulations in place to protect us, right?
