Officers from the Longwood University Police Department and Farmville Police Department participated in the Drug Enforcement Agency’s 11th National Drug Take Back Initiative on April 30. The initiative is designed to remove potentially dangerous prescription and other medications from homes by allowing citizens to anonymously dispose of them in a safe manner. The Farmville Police Department and Longwood University Police Department manned a collection site at Midtown Square in Farmville and collected 110 pounds of prescription drugs. Officers were assisted by volunteers from the Virginia Department of Health Medical Reserve Corps.
