Incumbents J.J. “Jamie” Davis, Donald Hunter and Dan Dwyer were re-elected Tuesday to another four-year term on the Farmville Town Council.

The three members faced no opposition.

Dwyer, an at-large member, received 124 votes. Davis, who represents Ward E, garnered 35 votes, while Hunter received 45 votes in Ward D.

According to the Prince Edward County Registrar’s Office, only a 5 percent of registered voters cast ballots.

The breakdown included 67 overall voters in Ward D, 60 voters in Ward E, nine voters in Ward C, eight voters in Ward B and 59 voters in Ward A.

“I am very happy to have won. There are many great things that will be happening in Farmville over the next four years,” Dwyer said. “Low voter turnout was to be expected, and being an optimist, I take it as a vote of confidence.” Dwyer’s first term began in July 2014.

The election saw a total of three write-in votes.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank my constituents in Ward D for re-electing me as their voice on town council,” said Hunter, who has served on council since 2004.

“I am grateful to the residents of the town of Farmville for re-electing me,” Davis said. “I look forward to working together with our community leaders in order to continue development of the proper relationships needed to maintain positive growth for generations to come.”

Davis was first elected in July 2012.
