April is Confederate History Month. Let us celebrate our history!

Are you ready for spaghetti? The Prospect Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will sponsor a spaghetti dinner Saturday, 5-7 pm., including spaghetti, salad, bread, drink and dessert for a donation. Come meet your neighbors and friends for some good food and fellowship.

The Farmville Woman’s Club met at the Farmville/Prince Edward Library for their April meeting. Gerry Spates gave a presentation of what’s new coming to the area. Peggy Kelsey led the devotion.

Mrs. Dianna Smith and her daughter, Christian, took her mother-in-law, Mrs. Pat Smith, shopping with them on Saturday morning. The three of them had an enjoyable time buying a prom dress for Christina as well as some new decor items for their homes.

Sunday afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smith and their children, Charles, Christina and Brianna and her friend, Josh, gathered at the home of Charles’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith for a belated family birthday dinner for Pat. 

Mrs. June Lundeen visited her mother the week before Easter. This, of course, meant that grandma Deborah Lundeen got to baby-sit all by herself during the week. Caleb Lundeen joined his family Easter weekend, and they all spent Easter Sunday having lunch with Fred and Frances Giles and their families.

On April 2 Roger and Deborah Lundeen attended the spring meeting of the Opticians Association of America, several continuing educational classes and the gala “Eye Ball” (semi-formal affair) on Saturday night.

The Third District Conference for the United Daughters of the Confederacy was held on April 2. Several members from Farmville 45 Chapter UDC attended.

Deborah Lundeen spent the weekend of March 12 in Charles City County at Edgewood Plantation Bed & Breakfast to attend a “Ghost Hunt.”  Edgewood Plantation has been featured on several paranormal TV shows. Besides housing “ghosts” it is an awesome bed & breakfast, and Deborah would recommend it for a wonderful getaway.

On Monday Flora Bolt and Frances Anderson attended the Curdesville Community Center dinner.

Flora Bolt entertained Lois Gager and Betty Meadows for lunch at Ruby Tuesday on Wednesday. Later in the day Flora Bolt was joined by Frances Anderson to see the movie “Miracles from Heaven.” This is a wonderful Christian movie.

After church on Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Steve Bolt, Haley Murdock and Paydon Murdock, Charles McFadden, Terri Bolt’s father from Forest and Flora Bolt gathered at Ruby Tuesday for lunch and some family time.

Friends and neighbors are praying for a speedy recovery for Alice Throckmorton, Gail George, Lon Stockton, Nancy Mottley, Scott Friend, Elfrieda Kerns, Betty Jean Bolt and Mildred Harvey Shanks.
