Centra Southside Community Hospital marks National Volunteer Week by saying thank you to all its dedicated volunteers.
National Volunteer Week, celebrated in the United States April 11-15, is an opportunity to recognize the inspiring work of volunteers and highlight the value and impact of volunteering to the hospital and medical centers.
Volunteer Week was created in 1974 when President Richard Nixon signed an executive order to establish the week as an annual celebration of volunteering. Every year since that time, each U.S. president, along with governors, mayors and other elected officials, has signed proclamations promoting national volunteer week.
Centra Southside Community Hospital has over 70 volunteers who provide a variety of roles in different areas of the hospital. Some volunteering locations include auxiliary, hospice, emergency room, PACE, same day surgery, intensive care unit, front desk, gift shop, medical center, physical therapy and cardiac center. In each different location the volunteers provide a unique care for that area.
Centra Southside Community Hospital is grateful for the time and dedication each volunteer gives. In 2015, CSCH volunteers donated 6,543 hours to help care for patients and give employees a helping hand.
Centra Southside Community Hospital recruits volunteers on an ongoing basis. If you are interested in volunteering, call (434) 315-2445 for more information.
