“Launching New Dimensions of Service” was the theme at the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority joint Founders’ Day celebration held at the Four Points of Sheraton Hotel in Richmond. The Rho Eta Omega Chapter served as hostess to several chapters.
The luncheon, with musical selections by the Richmond Youth Jazz Guild, featured recognition of Golden Sorors (50 or more years membership) and Diamond Sorors (75 or more years membership), a tribute to the founders of the sorority and special presentations. An inspiring message entitled “The Season of Sankofa” was delivered by the Rev. Dr. MarQuita Carmichael Burton. It centered around the history of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and Black History. The Founders’ Day celebration was followed by a rededication ceremony to the sorority.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is an organization dedicated to serving the community through various service activities. It was founded in 1908 at Howard University in Washington, D.C.
