Children’s consignment sale at Prospect VFD

Twice is Nice, the bi-annual Children’s Consignment Sale, will be held Friday from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m.-noon. This is sponsored by the Auxiliary of the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department and will be held at the Prospect Fire House.

Are you ready for spaghetti? Come out to the Prospect Firehouse April 16, 5-7 p.m. to get your spaghetti. The Prospect Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will be sponsoring the dinner. The meal includes spaghetti, salad, bread, drink and dessert all for a donation. Come meet your neighbors and friends for some good food and fellowship.

Mrs. Julie Shotwell and Kate, of Richmond, visited with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Don Meadows, for a few days last week during the Easter holiday. On Tuesday of last week, Betty Meadows and Julie and Kate Shotwell enjoyed lunch with Lois Gager, Sarah, Braydon and Olivia Trimble to celebrate the birthdays of Lois, Kate and Julie. It had been several years since all had been together for their birthdays.

Mrs. Pat Smith thanks her grandson Charles for coming on Saturday to help her with some yard work. She broke a bone in her left foot recently, so the help was greatly appreciated.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Meadows joined Mr. and Mrs. Ed Norton for dinner at the Burkeville Fire Department on Friday night.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stockton enjoyed the Waterworks production “Into the Woods” last Friday. This musical was most enjoyable. If you missed this last weekend, you can go Friday and Saturday night or Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.

Mrs. Betty Noblin spent the weekend of March 26-28 in Chesapeake with her son and his family, Dave, Paula and children Brady and Allie. They celebrated Brady’s birthday.

On Friday Mrs. Flora Bolt visited her aunt Ruth Southall at Holly Manor in The Woodland. It was Ruth’s 97th birthday. She is doing very well and was happy to see Flora.

Mrs. Flora Bolt attended the 3rd District meeting of the United Daughters of the Confederacy on Saturday in Vera near Appomattox. The meeting was held at New Hope Baptist Church and hosted by the Appomattox Chapter No. 11 UDC. The meeting was most interesting and well carried out by the ladies. Attending from the Farmville Chapter No. 45 UDC was President Susan Reynolds, of Spout Springs, and Desarea Bowling, of Amelia.

The Rev. Buddy Woodson, of Scottsville, was the guest minister at Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle on April 3; his wife Lois was with him. Following the church service the Bolt family had lunch with Judy Bolt and her son Chris. Those attending were Flora Bolt, Jennifer Bolt, Alexa Moser, Kyle and Jenni Bolt and sons Joshua and Jacob, Douglas and Betty Jean Bolt, Stacy Bolt, Steve and Terri Bolt, Ashley Bolt, Haley Murdock and friend Grace, Payden Murdock, Billy and Polly Mottley, Andrew Doss, and Buddy and Grace Woodson. Everyone enjoyed the good food and the fellowship. There was an Easter egg hunt for the young children while older children played ball.

Friends and neighbors are praying for a speedy recovery for Alice Throckmorton, Gail George, Sean Stockton, Mary Jo and Lon Stockton, Linda W. Campbell, Nancy Mottley, Scott Friend, Elfrieda Kerns, Betty Jean Bolt and Mildred Harvey Shanks.

Neighbors and friends are extending their heartfelt sympathy to the family of Harry Byrd Elam. He will be missed by who knew him.

The members of Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invite you to worship with them on Sunday.

The Rev. Caitilin Hoy will be with Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect on Sunday; Sunday School is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville, 302 Industrial Park Road, invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30am.
