Cumberland schools foundation raises $10,700

CUMBERLAND — The Cumberland County Public Schools Foundation raised $10,700 in donations during the fourth annual Foundation/Centra 5K Run on March 12.
One hundred and thirty-six participants ran over High Bridge during the event, according to Pat Bickel, the event’s co-director.
The donations will help fund scholarships awarded by the foundation to Cumberland County High School graduates.
Since 2001, the foundation has awarded $203,600 in scholarships, Bickel said.
Centra was the title sponsor of the event, she said.
Race participants come from Cumberland, Powhatan, Farmville, Midlothian, Crewe, Meherrin, Appomattox, Keysville, Nottoway, Lynchburg, Forest, Blackstone, Charlotte Court House, Phenix, Gretna, Evington and Rawlings.
