Longwood men’s basketball advances to Big South quarterfinals

The Longwood University men’s basketball team took a 75-69 win over Charleston Southern Thursday evening in the first round of the Big South Conference tournament championship, which is being hosted in Buies Creek, N.C.
Five Lancers scored in double-figures during the first-round game, including Darrion Allen (22), Tra’Vaughan White (13), Shaquille Johnson (11), Lotanna Nwogbo (11) and Kanayo Obi-Rapu (10).
With the win #8 seed Longwood will face off against #1 seed High Point at 12 p.m. today in the tournament quarterfinals. The game will be streamed live on ESPN3. During the Lancers first meeting with Panthers this season, Longwood traveled to High Point on Dec. 2 and suffered a 90-66 loss. The Lancers then hosted High Point on Feb. 18 and put up a solid fight only falling to the Panthers 88-80.
If Longwood upsets High Point in the second round of the tournament today, the team will advance to the semifinals round and play the winner of today’s UNC Asheville/Liberty 2 p.m. game. That game would be held tomorrow at 1 p.m. and will also be aired on ESPN3.
