Henry Oswall Thompson Jr., 92, of Henderson, NC, died Sunday, February 28, 2016. Born in Amelia County, he was the son of the late Henry Oswall and Cora Lee Doss Thompson.

Mr. Thompson was the retired owner of Henry Thompson Construction. He served in the United States Army during World War II.

Surviving are three sons, John W. Thompson (fiancé, Jeanette Sawyer), James L. Jim Thompson (Margaret), and Robert D. Danny Thompson (Anne), all of Henderson; a stepdaughter, Bonnie McCurley (Avery) of Toccoa, GA; a stepson, Keith Bollinger (Diane) of Farmville; seven grandchildren, Joshua Thompson, Zachary Thompson, Lisa Thompson, Stuart Thompson (Anne), Tim Thompson, Dina Martin (Kevin), and Tracey Thompson; five great-grandchildren, Cory Thompson, Conner Thompson, Taylor Elizabeth Thompson, Ryan Thompson, and Benjamin Jones (Lauren); and three great-great-grandchildren, Kelsey Jones, Kenliegh Jones and Jackson Jones.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Flowers Funeral Home. All other times they will be at the home of John Thompson, 96 Whaley Lane, Henderson, NC, after 5 p.m. each day.

Serving as active pallbearers will be his grandsons and great-grandsons.

Flowers are accepted, or memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 3 at 3 p.m. at Flowers Funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Frank Sossamon. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
