Thomas ‘Tommy Alvin Huddleston

Thomas “Tommy” Alvin Huddleston, 80, of Farmville, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2016. He was born on March 21, 1935 in Virginia to the late Thomas Ralph and Mildred Simmons Huddleston.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lena Rose; one son, T.C. Huddleston (Amy) of Cumberland; a daughter, Debbie Grantham (Mark) of Midlothian; four grandchildren, Jenna Cava (Steve), Kristin Grantham, Mary Huddleston, and Thomas Huddleston; one great-grandchild, David Cava; three sisters, Louvenia Corr, Helen Price and Hazel Olsen and many close friends. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

Tommy grew up on Plainview Farm and continued the family business alongside his son. Those who knew him, knew that there was rarely a day when you couldn’t find him working on the farm. In 1957, he met his match in Lena Rose and they built their home across the street from the farm and proudly raised their two children. He proudly served in the Army National Guard and was a dedicated member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Those who knew Tommy, knew how proud he was of his family and how he cherished the times spent with them. He was known for his kind spirit, sense of humor and ability to always keep a positive attitude in the hardest of times. Tommy was always willing to lend a helping hand to a friend in need.

A loving and devoted husband, “Daddy”, “Papa” and “Popa” he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 20 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Memorial Gardens.
