A 27-year-old Dillwyn man charged in connection with the possession and distribution of cocaine in three counties pleaded guilty to several drug charges recently.

Sidney M. Mack pled guilty to five counts of manufacturing a controlled substance in Buckingham Circuit Court, according to Commonwealth’s Attorney E.M. Wright Jr.

“He is being evaluated for a detention and diversion program,” Wright said of Mack’s sentence.

Mack was not prosecuted on two other felony charges.

According to Virginia State Police Spokeswoman Corinne Geller, the Piedmont Regional Narcotic & Gang Task Force began an investigation in 2014 focusing on the possession and distribution of cocaine in

Prince Edward, Buckingham and Cumberland counties.

The investigation led the task force to Mack, who was charged “with six felony counts of manufacturing a controlled substance and one felony count of drug conspiracy,” Geller said.

Mack was arrested and charged in June.

According to the Virginia Courts Case Information database, Mack was sentenced with five years in prison with all suspended. He was also sentenced with 15 years of probation.

The task force is composed of investigators from sheriff’s offices in Buckingham, Cumberland and Prince Edward, along with the Farmville Police Department and state police.
