Carl Eggleston, local businessman and political figure, will be documenting his life and experiences in an upcoming book entitled “Joy and Pain: The Carl Eggleston Story.”
The book will focus on Eggleston’s life story and will detail many of the historical and societal events on the local, state and national level in which Eggleston was involved. The book will recount his early childhood experiences with school segregation in Prince Edward County, how he became an entrepreneur and will highlight his rise as a community activist, politician and civic leader that he continues today.
Eggleston assisted with the campaigns of several prominent political figures, including former Gov. L. Douglas Wilder, U.S. Rep. Don Beyer, former U.S. Rep. L.F. Payne and President Barack Obama.
A July publishing date is tentatively planned. Charles W. White Jr., copy editor and writer for The Informant newspaper, will assist in the writing of the book.
