United Methodist Family Services (UMFS), a local non-profit organization that helps facilitate placements of foster kids with foster parents, received a big surprise from 5-year-old Maggie Meadows recently. The Farmville child raised $700 to create care bags, which will be given to kids when they are taken from their homes and placed into foster care. Maggie and her friends hosted a packing party at Badeaux’s Cajun Kitchen in Farmville, which donated 10 percent of the sales during the event. UMFS received 25 of the bags, which will be given to local children to make their transitions a little easier. Pictured with Maggie are her parents, K.C. and Tim. We commend Maggie and her friends for making the transition for other children easier during what could be the hardest times of their lives. Send ‘Way to Go’ photos to waytogo@farmvilleherald.com.
