Gussie White Bailey Dies Wednesday At Age 100

NOVEMBER 6 – Gussie White Bailey, 100, of Farmville, formerly of Drakes Branch, died Wednesday, November 5, 2003.

She was born August 3, 1903 in Amelia County, a daughter of the late Ashley P. and Lucy Rowlett White. She was the widow of Earl P. Bailey, Sr.

Mrs. Bailey had been a resident of Brookview Lodge and Holly Manor Nursing Home for the past six years. She was a lifelong member of Jetersville Christian Church.

She is survived by her son, Earl, Jr.; her daughters, Kathleen Austin, Thelma Encinas, Fay Garnett and Anne Barksdale; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in the Ash Camp Memorial Cemetery.
