Cumberland High School senior Holly Whaley skipped a half day of school Dec. 18 to attend U.S. Sen. (and presidential candidate) Ted Cruz’s Christmas Tour rally in Mechanicsville. Holly, who attended the rally with her dad, Ryan Whaley, was there early to secure front-row seats, where she sat next to former Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli. Holly drew attention with her all-American attire and Santa hat  (Cuccinelli complimented her boots). A campaign aide took Holly over to meet Cruz and  have her picture taken. Holly spoke and shook hands with Cruz before he took the stage. RollCall.com also took pictures of Holly for its website, and she is also in his Christmas Tour campaign video. Holly will turn 18 in July and is very excited about voting in her first presidential election. Cruz represents Texas in the U.S. Senate.
