BUCKINGHAM — A $7,234 grant has been awarded to Buckingham County for litter prevention and recycling program activities.

The grant is for activities for the 2015-16 fiscal year, according to a letter from the state Department of Environmental Quality.

“DEQ provides funds for litter prevention and recycling grants to localities under a non-competitive grant program based on population and road miles,” states the agency’s website. “These grants have been awarded annually since 1980 to localities for local litter prevention and recycling program implementation, continuation and/or expansion.”
