William “Herb” House, 86

GREEN BAY, Dec. 21 – William “Herb” House, 86, of Green Bay, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away Friday morning, December 10, 2010 at home following a brief illness.

He was born May 9, 1924 in Brave, Pennsylvania to the late Charles and Olive Shriver House. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1945 and then attended welding school in what was to become his profession. Mr. House transferred to Westfield PA to work for Consolidated Natural Gas (Dominion) as a welder, inspector and foreman. In the Westfield community he was Past Master in the Westfield Masonic Lodge # 477, Boy Scout troop leader for troop 53 and baseball coach of various age groups. In 1985, after 32 years of employment, he and his wife retired to Summerfield, FL where he enjoyed golfing and traveling.

Mr. House shared his life with his wife, Jean, for over 60 years. They raised three boys, Jeffry P. House, (teacher and coach in the Prince Edward County Public School System), Mark A. House, (Sergeant in the Newport News Police Department) and wife, Phyllis and their children, Drake and Seth, and Alan R. House, (construction in Pennsylvania) and wife, Jane and their children, Alyssa, Tyler and Jaela. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law.

The family would like to thank the many friends of Herb and Jean in the Westfield, PA, Summerfield, FL and Farmville, communities for their calls, visits and many acts of kindness.
