The voting polls have closed in Buckingham, Cumberland and Prince Edward counties.
This afternoon, local voter registrars termed the voter turnout in Buckingham and Prince Edward counties as moderate.
In Buckingham, where new voting machines are being used, registrar Margaret Thomas said that the pace of voters at the polls has been steady.
Cumberland registrar Marlene Watson couldn’t rate the turnout.
A majority of the contested races are in Buckingham County where five of the seven seats on the board of supervisors have opposition. Cumberland has the least, with only two supervisor seats contested.
