FARMVILLE – The rubber of commitment met the road of need.
Two wheels and one heart at a time.
Cruiser Club USA, Chapter 30 hosted their Third Annual Special Bikers for Special Olympics on September 25 at the Fireman's Sports Arena. The fundraiser was for the Area 12 Special Olympics, which includes Prince Edward, Cumberland, and Buckingham Counties.
The motorcycle club held two Poker Runs, a Bike Show, a Bike Wash and various other events during the day.
The Special Olympic Athletes also competed in different events while the motorcyclists cheered them on. Ribbons were presented to the athletes and trophies were presented to the bike show winners.
The Poker Hand winners received $250.00 each. Longwood Chapter of Alpha Sigma Alpha volunteer students held the bike wash and sold 50/50 tickets and Longwood Chapter of Sigma Nu worked the set up, the dance, and the take down of the event.
The evening kicked off with music by Casper Band with a full house in attendance. During the dance, a cake auction and item auction as well as 50/50 tickets and door prizes were given. All Sponsors were given recognition and the athletes presented the Gold, Silver, and Bronze sponsors with medals.
CCUSA30 would like to thank all of the sponsors that helped make this event a huge success. Because of the local community and businesses, CCUSA30 was proud to donate a check in the amount of $12,000.00 to the Area 12 Special Olympics.
