Hadsell faces heroin charge

NORFOLK — The stepfather of a Longwood University student who was found dead in Southampton County was recently found to have been in possession of heroin.

According to a Norfolk Police Department spokesman, 37-year-old Wesley Hadsell remains in police custody.

“On Oct. 7 … members of the Norfolk Police Department secured a warrant for one count of possession of heroin against … Hadsell. The charge was related to a substance recovered by Norfolk Police detectives during the ongoing investigation into Angelica Hadsell’s disappearance,” said Daniel Hudson, a department spokesman.

“The investigation into … Hadsell’s disappearance continues and detectives continue to pursue all leads,” Hudson said.

Hadsell, whose remains were discovered in April, died from acute heroin poisoning according to Norfolk Police.

Months ago, Wesley Hadsell was indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of felon in possession of ammunition.
