Mr. and Mrs. Elton Layden, of Farmville, announce the en-gagement of their daughter, Miss Kendall Layden, of Burlington, NC, to Dwight Payne, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Payne, of Snow Camp, NC.

Miss Layden is a 2006 graduate of Prince Edward County High School. She is presently enrolled at Alamance Community College finishing her nursing degree. She is the granddaughter of Fenton Cartwright Sr., of Hertford, NC, and the late Jackie Cart-wright, of Hertford, NC, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lay-den, of Belvidere, NC.

Mr. Payne graduated from Louisburg College and then at-tended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC. He is presently employed as assistant manager at Applebee's Restau-rant in Burlington, NC. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Frazier and the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter Payne.

The wedding is planned for June 18, 2011.
