LYNCHBURG, Nov. 23 – Catherine Jenkins Overstreet, 85, of Lynchburg, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Westminster-Canterbury. She was the widow of James A. “Jack” Overstreet.

Born September 22, 1925, she was a daughter of the late William J. and Jennie Lee Cements Jenkins of Burkeville. She was predeceased by brothers, Roy, Wilton and Earl Jenkins all of Burkeville; sisters Geraldine Hall of Madison Heights, Flossie Carter of Amelia, and Pauline Jennings of Burkeville.

She is survived by a step-son and twelve nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Overstreet attended Averette College and was a longtime employee of Farm Credit. She was a humble, kind and Christian lady; a friend to all who knew her and a member of Timberlake United Methodist Church.

A celebration of Mrs. Overstreet's life and faith will be held Friday, November 26, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Rob Colwell officiating, at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Interment will be in Virginia Memorial Park. A reception and fellowship time will be held at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel following the interment.
