Johnnie Henderson Cardwell

Johnnie Henderson Cardwell died October 10, 2015.  He was born April 24, 1932, to the late Alice Thelma Hicks and Floyd Cardwell, in Prospect.

He was a member of First Rock Baptist Church and attended Prince Edward County Public Schools.  He was once married to the late Mildred Jones. Johnnie lived in Paterson, New Jersey, where he worked as a railroad construction foreman. After retiring, he moved back to Prospect in 1986.

He is survived by three children, Lucille Cardwell Chambers (Monroe), Lovelene Cardwell, and Johnnie A. Cardwell; grandson, Daryl Chambers; great grandchildren, Daryl Chambers Jr. and Lamonie Chambers; three step-children, Alice Virginia Miller (David), Doretha Sally Holliman, and Jerry Jones (Ruby); brother, Leonard Cardwell (Patricia); sister, Margaret Panagulis (Nicolas); and a host of step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A funeral service was held October 16 at First Rock Baptist Church, with interment in the church cemetery.

Bland-Reid Funeral Home of Farmville handled the arrangements.
