Pattie Cooper-Jones has announced her reelection bid to the Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors.
Cooper-Jones, who currently represents Farmville District 801 on the board, is the Democratic nominee and is unopposed in the November election.
“She has lived in Prince Edward County for the past 32 years. Cooper-Jones is a mother, wife and community advocate. Her children are products of Prince Edward County Public Schools,” she said in a statement.
Cooper-Jones has served two terms on the board. Currently, she serves as the board’s vice chair and chair of the county’s finance committee.
Her goals for the county are to turn around the school system and to bring economic opportunities to its residents.
“We have a poverty rate that is near 20 percent. Our public school system is ranked as one of the lowest-performing schools in the state. Those two issues are intertwined. Those are my priorities for the next four years,” she said.
Cooper-Jones has completed her certified supervisor training and will graduate next month. “She plans to utilize her experience and resources to help Prince Edward progress to new heights,” Cooper-Jones said in a statement.
Cooper-Jones is a member of numerous civic and community organizations. “She has been the manager of Parkview Gardens Apartments for nearly 32 years. She is a certified housing manager and former chair of the Prince Edward County Democratic Committee,” she said.
The election is Nov. 3.
