The Farmville Area Habitat for Humanity is best known for helping provide the opportunity of homeownership to in-need individuals and families in Prince Edward, Buckingham and Cumberland counties. However, the organization is now exploring the idea of a Habitat chapter in Charlotte County.

According to a release from the Farmville Area chapter, the area in Charlotte that would serve as the initial service area would “include the areas of Charlotte Court House, Keysville, Drakes Branch, Phenix, Red House and Pamplin.”

Although the idea is now out in the open, there is still much to be done before a Charlotte County Habitat chapter can form.

“The successful formation of a chapter requires the interest and efforts of town and county officials, churches, civic organization, business people, educators, social services, among others,” stated the release.

Because of that interest needing to be present in the Charlotte community for the chapter to take off, the Farmville Area Habitat chapter will be holding a preliminary informational meeting on Tuesday from 7-8 p.m. at Ash Camp Baptist Church.

During the meeting, those interested will be able to learn more about the Habitat mission and the process of helping those in need.
