PRINCE EDWARD — Work is continuing on rehabilitating a culvert on Morris Creek Road over a tributary of Buffalo Creek in Prince Edward County.
According to VDOT, the road remains closed between Darlington Heights and Goose Creek roads.
One lane of Morris Creek Road is expected to reopen to traffic with assistance from flaggers during regular work hours by Wednesday, with the entire road reopening later in the month.
The project began in late August, VDOT said.
Motorists are urged to use caution and be alert to changing traffic patterns.
“One of the wingwalls on the box culvert under [Morris Creek Road] had shifted and fell, so it has been removed and is being replaced,” said VDOT’s Kevin Wright, a residency administrator. “The wingwall is the angled piece on the side of the culvert that holds the slope up and away from the creek.”
