FARMVILLE — The Town of Farmville is closer to becoming a little larger.

During the town council’s Sept. 2 work session, Town Manager Gerald Spates reported that a contract agreement for the voluntary boundary adjustment request is set to go to Jim Ennis, the county attorney for Prince Edward.

“I think we’re moving along on that. Hopefully we’ll have the contract to Mr. Ennis so we can go ahead and get that squared away,” Spates told council members.

In July, the council was presented with drawings for a proposed boundary change, including 91.24 acres off Milnwood Road and 241 off Germantown Road.

The adjustment is a voluntary request and has been discussed with Prince Edward County officials.

The Milnwood property includes tracts owned by Cedar Level LLC and Puckett Funeral Home.

Spates said that the town wanted to stay with Germantown Road as one of the new boundary lines “instead of going on the other side of Germantown and trying to pick up some of the properties that they wanted to on the opposite side. The people still have access to town water and sewer,” he said. “It’s not that it’s going to make any kind of an impact on that.”

A public hearing has to be held on the citizen-initiated boundary adjustment.
