The Buckingham Knights varsity volleyball team recently took on the Appomattox Raiders in a non-district contest and suffered a 3-0 loss.

The Knights three losses consisted of set scores of: 25-14, 25-13 and 25-23. Buckingham head varsity volleyball coach Alan Hershberger said that there were some bright spots during the contest as his team continues to work each week. “Allison Shifflet and Ashley Hellerstedt both had great blocks. Ashley was especially dominant blocking the middle,” Hershberger said.

He also noted that the team got terrific serving nights from Mattie Kish Heslip and Taylor Corona and that the team played its best game in the third game as they continue to work and improve.

The Knights will take on Bluestone on the road Thursday at 7 p.m.
