Editor, The Herald:
We need your help, Prince Edward County community. In these difficult economic times, while the available dollars remain scarce, the needs of the local organizations that your United Way supports continue to skyrocket. The rising costs that have impacted your household have also negatively impacted the budgets and services of the 19 groups receiving funds from our 2010-2011 fundraising campaign.
This year, despite our challenging economic climate, we hope not only to meet our campaign goal, but also to increase the dollar amount each organization receives. The organizations we support this year are listed below and are committed to serving all of Prince Edward County. We need your help to feed our hungry; assist our elderly; and educate our youth. To learn more about our partners, please go to our new website at http://uwprinceedward.org/.
Please send your tax-deductible donation to the United Way of Prince Edward County, P.O. Box 122 Farmville, VA 23901. Every dollar you donate goes directly back into our community to help make Prince Edward County a better place in which to work and live.
By working together, we can help a multitude of worthy causes. Please join us in donating so that we all can make this year's campaign a success and LIVE UNITED as a community.
