The high school football season officially begins Friday night, and as fans head out to watch their favorite teams they will also run across some talented players on the opposite sideline.

While these players have the ability to break the hearts of opposing teams, they are also fun to watch for fans who appreciate talent and ability.

So as you head to the games this year, be certain to watch these guys from each team in the James River District.

Leon Ragland — The Buckingham County High School speedster was amazing at quarterback last season.

Now he shifts to running back where he will likely get the ball in better positions to get into the open field more.

Reid Chenault — The Goochland High School  quarterback is a terrific thrower and, if given time, helps run a Bulldogs offense unlike most in the 2A region.

Keaun Baskerville — The Central High School running back is a threat to score from anywhere on the field. His straight-line running style comes with the ability to lay out a defender and punish them as well.

Thomas Parrish — The Nottoway High School running back/ defensive back helped lead the Cougars to a district title and will now shoulder most of the carries in 2015.

Joseph Reed — The University of Virginia commit will have a chance to show off his arm and legs this season as the Randolph-Henry High School Statesmen employ a pistol offense.

Tyler Foore — Offensive lineman do not usually get much praise or attention, but Foore will be key in how well Amelia County High School plays this season.

Delquan Bigelow — The Prince Edward County High School running back has led the team in rushing over the past two years and will need to keep that going in order for his young teammates to have a good start to the year.

TJ Jackson — The Cumberland High School offensive/defensive lineman is the biggest player in the district this season and with his size, he could be a dominating presence on both sides of the ball for the Dukes.

Keith Patrick — The Bluestone High School Barons had a rough season last year and if they are going to turn things around, they will need Patrick to have plenty of receiving yards this year.
