Buckingham resident Vera Cooke-Merritt was recently spotted laboring on sorority paperwork in the Buckingham County Public Library. Cooke-Merritt has served as an educator for 44 years in Buckingham and Prince Edward counties and has served the community through Alpha Kappa Alpha since 1977. Through her service on numerous boards and committees and in many organizations, she has been able to fulfill many needs in the region and local community. Cooke-Merritt is an example of what a community and civic leader should be, and we thank her for her hard work.
