PENNSYLVANIA, Sept. 21 – Junior Jacobs, 79, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away Friday, September 17, 2010 at Holy Spirit Hospital. He was born December 8, 1930 in Roanoke, VA. He was a son of the late Leo D., Sr. and Annie Tuck Jacobs of Farmville.

Junior worked as a union truck driver. He was one of the first drivers to drive for Sears and Roebuck, and then drove for Pilot Freight Carriers. After retirement he continued to work part-time until his death. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn W. Jacobs, son Hunter Jacobs and wife, Ashlee of Camp Hill, PA; daughters, Blair L. Young of Mechanicsburg, PA and Janet C. Duncan of Hopewell, and also from a previous marriage, a daughter, Linda Jacobs Tennant and husband, James of Rock Hill, SC, and son, Dexter Brooks Jacobs of Raleigh, NC and wife Debby; many nieces and nephews; 11 grandchildren; brother, Guy T. Jacobs and wife, Shirley of Carrollton; two sisters, Estelle Womack and Joann Simpson and husband, Howard both of Farmville, and a sister-in-law, Ruby Jacobs of Siler City, NC.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo D. Sr. and Annie Tuck Jacobs of Farmville, three brothers, Harold of Siler City, NC, James (Jake) and Jack, both of Farmville.

Visitation will be held from 12 noon to 2 p.m., Thursday, September 23, with service following at Shorter Funeral Home and interment at Trinity Memorial Gardens.
