Jean Katherine “Kitty” Taylor Boyers, 83

CUMBERLAND, July 9 — Jean Katherine “Kitty” Taylor Boyers, 83, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at home.  She was born on November 10, 1931, the daughter of the late J. Henderson and Dollie G. Taylor.  Kitty was a musician at Bethlehem Baptist Church for 51 years, played for Dunkum Funeral Home and at Salem United Methodist Church until her health declined.

She is survived by a daughter, Gloria B. Shull and husband, Bill of Mt. Crawford; two sons, Paul D. Boyers and Sterling F. Boyers, both of Dillwyn; grandchildren, Buffy Mangus and her husband, Scott, Grattan and Amber Shull, Samantha Pankey, Adam Pankey and his wife, Chelsie, Daniel Boyers, Taylor Boyers; seven great-grandchildren, Reese Willis, Avery Grace and Mallory Taylor Mangus, Elizabeth Mae, Tessa Jane and William Adam Pankey and Camden  Oliver Shull; one sister, Erecelle T. Bersch; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, David E. Boyers; grandson, Will Boyers; sisters, Preston T. Ayers, Frances T. Moore, Dorothy T. Gibson, Lelia T. Nuckols, and a brother, Henderson I. “Sam” Taylor.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 10 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dunkum Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 11 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Dillwyn with interment in the church cemetery.
