Tessie Utterback

JULY 30 – Tessie “Cook” Utterback, of Farmville, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at the UVA Medical Center surrounded by her family. Daughter of Theodore and Edith Cook, Tessie was born in Kimball, WV on July 6, 1949. She resided in Williamsburg for a number of years before moving to Farmville.
In addition to caring for her family, Tessie was an LPN and for many years provided care and lent support to many patients at Brookview in Farmville. She was a wonderful wife, mother and friend who always made us smile. She loved spending time with family, being outdoors with her animals, and was a fabulous cook. Anytime you visited with her you were always at home.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Utterback; children, Lori DelVecchio and hus-band, Joe of Indiana and Leslie Hite and husband, Rick of Lanexa; grandchildren, Kristina Asbury, Frank, Emily and Robert DelVecchio. Extended family include Dawn Helterbran, Robin Garrington and James Utterback; brothers, Aldon Cook and wife, Suzzie of Lynchburg, Theodore R. Cook Jr. and wife, Wanda of Chesterfield, K. Lewis Cook and wife, Sue of Williams-burg, Ricky R. Cook and wife, Terri of Williamsburg, and Danny “Joe” Cook of Farmville; sisters, Jane Mace and husband, Charles of Williamsburg, Betty Lester and husband, Clinton of Ohio and sister-in-law, Betty Cook of NC; many nieces, nephews, extended family and loving friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Edward L. Cook.
Family will receive friends on Friday, July 31 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Puckett Funeral Home and on Saturday, August 1 from 12 – 2 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home in Williamsburg.
Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home. Burial will take place following the service at Williamsburg Memorial Park.
