Rucker Snead, United Way President, presents Teresa Stewart with a check from the United Way. Teresa represents Camp Loud and Clear, South Central Virginia’s overnight summer camp for deaf/hard of hearing children and youth. The camp offers nationally certified interpreters, CART Services (real-time captioning), all modes of communication, chaperones familiar with hearing loss, and teen leadership training provided for counselors-in-training. The camp is an affiliation between Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center, Longwood University and Radford University. No other summer camp in Virginia is staffed or equipped to accept children with hearing loss regardless of their communication means.
