NORWOOD, June 30 — Cleveland Milton “C.M.” Price Jr., 83, of Forkfield Farm, Norwood, died at Lynchburg General Hospital Friday, June 26, 2015 after a long-term illness. Born January 27, 1932 in Prince Edward County, he was the son of the late Cleveland Milton and Laura Blanton Price.
Mr. Price was a graduate of North Carolina State University where he played football. He began his professional career with the Virginia Department of Forestry, and while working for the department in Louisa County he met his future wife, Pat. In 1961 they moved to Nelson County, where he began operating Forkfield Farm and teaching at Nelson County High School. During more than two decades at the high school he was a teacher, basketball coach, and assistant principal. Following resignation from the school system, he operated Nelson Food Mart, Inc. in Lovingston until health problems necessitated his retirement.
He was also a member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Norwood and an Air Force Veteran.
Mr. Price is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia “Pat” Fisher Price; his son, Cleveland Milton “Cleve” Price, III and his wife, Beth Ginter Price; grandchildren, Tyler Cleveland Richard Price, Caitlin Allyson Price, Claire Elizabeth Price, and Jackson Parker Price, all of Norwood; his sister, Cary Price Reed of Prospect; and two nieces.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the residence, 8115 Norwood Road, Wednesday, July 1 from 5–8 p.m.
Interment will be private.
