Batteau Festival
The 30th Annual James River Batteau Festival begins on Saturday, June 20, with events continuing until Saturday, June 27. Bateaux will travel across Buckingham with stops at Wingina on Monday, Howardsville on Tuesday, Scottsville on Wednesday and the Slate River on Thursday. Food will be available at some sites. Father’s Day Service
The Mt. Olive Baptist Church, of Dillwyn, will be having service beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 21. Fathers are invited to the worship service. Youth will also be recognized for their end-of-school achievements. The church is located at 16901 North James Madison Highway.
Food Pantry Needs
The food pantry at Maysville Presbyterian Church is in need of cereal, peanut butter, canned fruit, meats, fish and noodles, snacks for children and juice boxes. To donate items and for more information on the pantry, contact Craig McPherson at 434-906-5221 or e-mail jamesrivercraig@gmail.com.
Summer Arts Camp
The Buckingham County Arts Council will sponsor their 34th annual Summer Arts Camp for Children from July 6-10 at the Buckingham Arts Center on U.S. Route 60. The camp provides art and education through dancing, drama, painting, drawing and tie-dyeing for children ages 7-14. The cost is $35 for the week. Registration forms can be obtained at the center on Tuesdays from 3-7 p.m. For more information, call 434-969-2951.
