CUMBERLAND, Oct. 7 – Claude Eugene Finchum Sr., 91, of Cumberland passed away Thursday morning at his residence. He was born August 28, 1917 in Sevierville, TN, the son of the late Decatuer and Julia Bell Henry Finchum. He was the husband of Joanna Waddell Finchum. Mr. Finchum worked as a farmer.

He is survived by his wife; his children, Reva Mae Hammonds and husband, Lewis Sr., Wilbert Harold Finchum and wife, Carol of Sumter, SC, Shirley Imogean Peters and husband, Milton W. of Raleigh, NC, Betty Lou O'Neil and husband, William of Sumter, SC and Boyd Lee Finchum and wife, Rhonda of Richmond; sisters, Helen Finchum of Green Bay and Gladys Huddleston of Farmville; 31 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Evelyn Mutch and a son, Claude Eugene Finchum Jr.

A funeral service was held Sunday, October 5, at the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home with interment in Meherrin United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Puckett Funeral Home, Farmville, was in charge of arrangements.
