Harriett C. G. Pais Buckingham Native Dies November 20

RICHMOND, Nov. 25 – Harriet Crute Garnett Pais, of Richmond, died Thursday, November 20, 2008. A native of Buckingham County, Mrs. Pais was born May 24, 1915 to Edwin Crute Garnett and Lucy Davis Garnett. Born in Curdsville, she attended school there and graduated from Longwood College with a teaching degree, later teaching in Tazewell County.

She was married to the late Elwood Alexander Pais in December 1940. Mrs. Pais was a member of Bon Air United Methodist Church. She is survived by the joys of her life, her children and grandchildren, two sons, Elwood Alexander Pais Jr. and wife, Justine, and Anthony Edwin Pais; a daughter, Lucy Pais Clowes and husband, Fred; and grandchildren, Ellen Randolph and husband, Terry, Sarah Davis and husband, John, Carrie, Erin and David Pais, and Meg and Kate Clowes.

A funeral service will be held at Smyrna United Methodist Church in Buckingham County on Saturday, November 29, at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
