Joanna Essler Dies In Texas On August 29

TEXAS, Sept. 8 – Joanna Danby Blanton Essler, formerly of Farmville, died at her home in Austin, Texas on Saturday, August 29, 2009. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Fore Blanton; her paternal grandparents, Josiah and Anna Fore Blanton; and her maternal grandparents, Lyle B. and Fannie Godsey Danby, all of Cumberland.
She is survived by her husband, James Essler, her mother, Marie Danby Blanton; and two aunts, Frances D. Hopkins and Jane D. Crute; as well as several cousins.
She attended Prince Edward Academy, graduating with honors in 1966, and the College of William and Mary, receiving a bachelor of arts degree in 1971. As a past member of the Farmville Presbyterian Church, she participated in many youth activities. Following in her mother's footsteps, Joanna became an accomplished gourmet chef, who loved to entertain her many friends.
A celebration of her life will be held in Austin at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Farmville Presbyterian Church or the Prince Edward SPCA.
