The 60th wedding anniversary celebration of James and Martha Whitehead was held Dec. 18 at Charley's Waterfront Cafe. Four generations of family members were in attendance for the special occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Whitehead were married at Douglas Presbyterian Church on Dec. 25, 1951, at 2 p.m. and honeymooned in South Carolina. Not long after the couple were wed, they found out that Mr. Whitehead's grandparents were married at Spring Creek Baptist Church on Dec. 25, 1901, at 2 p.m., the exact day and time 50 years prior. The wedding held 50 years later in 1951 had not been planned and was merely coincidence.
