MARCH 30 – Dorothy Baker Williams, 78, of Salt Springs, Florida, died December 24, 2003 as the result of an automobile accident.
Mrs. Williams was very active in writing, painting, bridge and other social activities. She published her autobiography. Roots & Wings, in 1996. She wrote numerous poems, founded a writer's forum in Salt Springs and wrote a weekly column for The Ocala Star Banner and was In the process of writing her second book. Her latest adventure was the initiation of a Red Hat Society Chapter in Salt Springs.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Cortez Williams; two daughters, Joyce Gardner Sanderson of Florence, SC and Hope Gardner Dutton of Cypress, TX; three sons, Glenwood Baker Gardner of Quinton, John Carter Gardner of Hampton and Woody Mepham of Bradenton, FL; three stepdaughters, Dena Williams of Clearwater, FL, Peggy Walkingstick of Houston, TX and Donna Niemuth of Berlin, WI; two stepsons, Dave Williams of Maryland and Dale Williams of Clearwater, FL; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her eldest son, Robert Gardner and a stepson, Danny Williams.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 3 in Douglas Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Abilene.
Doyne-Burger-Davis Funeral Home, Farmvllle, is in charge of arrangements.
