The Prospect Historical Society will have their famous “Election Day” stew for sale on Tuesday Nov. 8; the stew will be on sale at the Historic Train Depot in Prospect. The price is $5 a quart. Members of the society have raffle tickets for sale for a beautiful large quilt. The drawing will be Dec. 20. You may call 434-392-6431 or 434-574-6140 for tickets.
The Prospect Historical Society will hold its November meeting on Monday, Nov. 7, at 6 p.m. at the Prospect Fire Station.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Meadows attended an 80th birthday party for Jim Gussett at the Longwood Bed and Breakfast on Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. John Gager and Mr. and Mrs. Don Meadows attended the annual stew held last Sunday afternoon at the Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Noblin attended the retirement party of her nephew, Linwood Arrington, from the Chesterfield Police Department on Oct. 29. The retirement party was held in Powhatan.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kelsey enjoyed a visit from her brother, Wayne Cogle, of Elizabethan, TN, last Friday through Sunday.
Mrs. Hilda Allen, Mrs. Lois Johnson, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Floyd were among the many enjoying the music of Kathy Whatley at Glenn Memorial Baptist Church in Prospect last Friday night.
On Oct. 22 Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kelsey visited their grandson, Justin, also visiting Justin Chilton was his mother, Jennifer Dickson. This was “Family Weekend” at Christopher Newport University. They all had a wonderful time. Carl and Sadie Kelsey stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Sonny Williams.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kelsey joined many others at the annual stew at Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle last Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. Nancy Kelsey Williams is in the community visiting family, while here the family will celebrate Nancy's birthday with lunch at Merk's Place. Her birthday was the 29 of October. A belated Happy Birthday is wished to Nancy.
The “Fall Stew” was held at Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle on Oct. 30 with about 50 people in attendance. Stew Masters were Steve Bolt and William McGuire. Everyone commented that this was the best ever. Bolt cousins came from a distance to the stew, Mr. and Mrs. Truman (Achaia) Bolt of Willis, as did Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Bolt of Rice. The Truman Bolt family visited Mr. and Mrs. Doug (Betty Jean) Bolt and Stacy while in the area.
Mr. and Mrs. Kyle Bolt and Joshua have returned home from Philadelphia, PA, where they attended the Institute for the Achievement of Human Development. They went for Joshua's check-up and more training to learn new techniques for what to do for Joshua in his program to learn to walk and talk. Joshua is 10 years old with cerebral palsy. He is greatly improved.
November 1 found the Prospect Happy Hats and guest traveled to the Peaks of Otter where they enjoyed a delicious meal and the beautiful view, following lunch they went antiquing. Those enjoying the trip were Margaret Stockton hostess, Betty Meadows, Joyce Floyd, Jeannette Tarlton, Edwina Covington and guest Fred Floyd and Julian Covington.
Family, friends and neighbors are sending special get well wishes to all those who are sick at this time, Mrs. Hilda Allen, Mrs. Pat Kellum, Mrs. Elizabeth Mason, Mrs. Dolly Childress and Johnny Campbell.
Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invites everyone to Sunday School at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. Rev. Chuck Klotzberger will be in the pulpit this Sunday.
The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday School is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. Kemper Beasley III will fill the pulpit on the first Sunday of November Sunday.
Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. Calvary Chapel-Farmville is located at 45 Simpson Road in Prospect, two miles west of Dowdy's Corner just off of US 460.
