JANUARY 23 – Ernestine Noel Timberlake, 94, died Monday, January 19, 2009. She was born September 24, 1914 to the late Richard Walker Noel and Nettie Ella David Noel.
Mrs. Timberlake was preceded in death by her husband, D.V. “Bert” Timberlake, two sisters, Josephine Riley and Nancy Reynolds and two brothers, Dr. William Noel and Dr. David Noel, both of North Carolina.
She is survived by a son, B.V. “Tim” Timberlake Jr. and wife, Anne of Powhatan; daughter, Nancy J. Moore of Cumberland; five grandchildren, Douglas V. Timberlake of San Antonio, Texas, Robert Moore of Mechanicsville, Daniel Moore of Dinwiddie, Beverly DeVore of Farmville and Sara Moore of Langley Air Force Base of San Antonio, Texas; three step-grandchildren, Lisa M. Jones of New Canton, Danny Moss of Dillwyn and Cathy M. Word of Farmville; three great-grandchildren, Meghan Moore, Taylor Moore and Savannah Moore; a great-granddaughter anxiously awaited; a special grandson, Blake Word and five step great-grandchildren, Brett Jones, Hunter Jones, Joe Moss-Frable, Hayleigh Jones, Bran-don King, and Trey DeVore and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was a retired school teacher for Cumberland County Schools and a loving devoted mother and grandmother.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Jan. 22 from 6-8 p.m. at Doyne-Burger-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held in the Chapel on Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Tommy Reynolds, a devoted nephew, officiating.
