“Vandy” Hamilton, 88,

DARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Aug. 23 – Verdella “Vandy” Ann Vanlandingham Hamilton, 88, of Darlington Heights, died on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Orestes F. Vanlandingham and Emma Estelle Clark Vanlandingham Bradshaw.
Mrs. Hamilton was an active member of Spring Creek Baptist Church and the Eastern Star and served as an English teacher and guidance counselor until 1985 for the Charlotte County Public School System. She was a devoted, loving mother and grandmother and devoted her life to her Lord and Savior.
She is survived by her sons, Harold Lee Smith (Robin) of Winston-Salem, NC, Leslie Wirt Hamilton Jr. (Deloris) of Charlotte C.H., and William “Bill” Henry Hamilton (Carolyn) of Darlington Heights; daughter, Emma Hamilton Pugh (Jody) of Phenix; five grandchildren, James Brady Smith, William Brian Hamilton (Anne), April Nicole Hamilton, Jessica Lauren Pugh, and Joel Graham Pugh; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Wirt Hamilton Sr. and her four brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, August 23, in the sanctuary of Spring Creek Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Officiating ministers were the Reverends Anthony (Tony) Reeves, Paul McLinden, and Roland Grenouillou Jr.
The family requests memorial contributions to one of the following, Spring Creek Baptist Church Playground Fund, Centra Hospice of Farmville, or American Diabetes Association.
